SA: Xenophon deal exposes SA's failure say the Liberals

The South Australian opposition says the state government's failure to fight for the
River Murray has been exposed .. by Senator NICK XENOPHON'S success in securing extra
funds for the river.

Opposition Leader MARTIN HAMILTON-SMITH says Senator XENOPHON has done in one day what
Premier MIKE RANN has been unable to deliver in seven years.

In return for his support of the federal government's 42 billion dollar stimulus plan
.. Senator XENOPHON's secured a 900 million dollar commitment from the government to help
the Murray-Darling Basin.

Mr HAMILTON-SMITH says he's just returned from the SA Riverland and it's clear the
Murray needs federal money quickly to buy water to help keep permanent plantings alive.
