Fed: Govt does not have my vote for Telstra sale - Lees

Former Australian Democrats Senator MEG LEES has reminded the government it does nothave her vote for the full sale of Telstra.

The newly-independent senator, who left the Democrats last month, says her originalposition hasn't changed and she won't support the third stage public sale of the telco.

But she says she's interested in debating on what to do with the money if the sale goes ahead.

Senator LEES has told Channel Seven her original position was that the full sale ofTelstra was inevitable, but she wanted to negotiate on where the sale money went.

She says she'll tell Treasurer PETER COSTELLO that while most Australians oppose thesell-off, if Telstra is sold they want the money spent wisely -- particularly on environmentprojects.
