Vic: Immunisation service axed.
Victoria's opposition says immunisation buses are sitting unused on the side of the
road while some of the state's most vulnerable residents remain at risk.
Opposition health spokesman ROBERT DOYLE says three mobile bus immunisation services
that target children under six and adults have been axed, and funds diverted elsewhere.
The axed service covered the Grampians in the state's west and Casey, the local government
area in Melbourne's east.
Both areas were identified as at-risk in the government's recently released Burden
of Disease report.
Mr DOYLE says Health Minister JOHN THWAITES trumpeted the Burden of Disease study but
has cut funding to a service which targets the groups the study has highlighted.
Comment is being sought from the government.
